| Getting Started - Checking Browser Settings | ![]() |
Are you a new online student and want to make sure everything is ready for class? The first thing you will need to do is check your web browser settings.
Blackboard requires Java, Popups and Cookies in order to function correctly. Essay questions and the Discussion Board use the Visual Text Box Editor. (The Visual Text Box Editor is a Microsoft ActiveX Control and only works correctly in Internet Explorer.) Checking the settings for the web browser you are using can prevent problems before they happen.
Are you a returning student and have encountered "strange" Blackboard behavior? Have you experienced a problem posting to a Discussion Board or answering an essay question? You probably need to check the settings in your web browser.
