Disabling the Visual Text Box Editor

Blackboard has a text box feature known as the "Visual Text Box Editor:  This text editor allows word processing style text editing in text box areas of Blackboard.   Essay questions, for example.

However, the Visual Text Box Editor only functions correctly in Internet Explorer 6. If you are using Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Vista you must disable the text editor.  Users of Netscape or Firefox might experience problems such as "freezing" when entering an essay exam or assessment.  The solution to this is simple - disabling the text editor.
