About Us

We offer a variety of options in the business division. If your present career goal is to enter the workforce rather than pursue an undergraduate degree, then you should consider one of our associate of applied science or A.A.S. degrees or certificates in any of the following areas: Business, Computer Information Systems, Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or Accounting.

CERTIFICATES: Certificate programs prepare students for entry-level employment opportunities. Some certificates offer advanced training or build foundations for future completion of an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) or Associate of General Studies (A.G.S.) degree. Most certificate required courses will stack into the coordinating A.A.S. degree. Completing the certificate portion of a degree increases accomplishment, provides basic business skills for entrepreneurship ventures and increases employability. Refer and compare certificate course requirements to the respective or the business A.A.S. degrees. The college will confer a graduation diploma for completion of a certificate.

AAS DEGREES: The Associate of Applied Science Degree prepares students for employment directly into the workforce of their chosen degree. See Grid below for Programming Sequence Guides for each of our A.A.S. degrees - make sure to choose the appropriate catalog year.

INTERNSHIPS: Business Internship courses are now being offered through Central Arizona College starting Spring, 2014. The BUS196 Applied Business Internship (1) or BUS260 Applied Business Seminar (3) courses each include a 45-hour for-credit internship that connects you with a business industry experience and job opportunitites. See catalog for pre-requisites and adding this to your certificate or degree completion. All CAC majors are eligible for enrollment and internships are not exclusive to business areas only. For questions regarding these two internship opportunities, please contact CAC's Experiential Learning Coordinator Tabatha Smith at tabatha.smith@centralaz.edu or by phone at 520‐494‐5987 at the SPC.

Some state universities have responded to the needs in particular technical fields with provisions so that students with an A.A.S. degree may transfer to a university without loss of credit. Refer to the Major and/or Transfer guides on the AZTRANSFER website for more information on the Bachelor of Applied Science degrees at www.aztransfer.com.

TRANSFER DEGREE A BUS: If you are interested in transferring to one of the state universities to complete a baccalaureate degree, then we recommend our Associate of Business or ABUS Degree. This degree will enable you to transfer your Central credits to the University of Arizona, Arizona State University or Northern Arizona University.

For job postings, fairs, internships, career resources and links, explore the Central Arizona College Career and Student Employment Services that connect the student employers. Additional career and personal development workshops and trainings are availble at the various campus sites in the areas of resume writing and interviewing, diversity links, disability sites, newspapers and salary information and surveys. For students needing more career exploration, the college offers complementary assessments using the 'Discovery' and/or 'Career Coach' tools.

Accounting, Business, CIS & HRM Programs available at Campuses: Aravaipa - AVC, Casa Grande Center - CGC, Corporate Center - CC, Florence Center - ASP, Maricopa Campus - MC, San Tan Center - STC, Signal Peak Campus - SPC, Superstition Mountain - SMC and Statewide/District/Online - DSP.
