These search engines should be used to research information about financial aid and scholarships. Students should file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, visit a scholarship search engine site such as FastWeb, and look at the particular university scholarship webpage to where they will transfer.
FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is available either online or in the Student Services building. Students should complete a FAFSA in order to evaluate their financial need. This will help students know if they can receive federal, state, or institutional aid in the form of grants, loans, or work-study.
FinAid: FinAid was established in the fall of 1994 as a public service. This award-winning site has grown into the most comprehensive source of student financial aid information, advice and tools -- on or off the web. Access to FinAid is free for all users and there is no charge to link to the site.
FastWeb: There are several free scholarship databases available online. With more than $3 billion in scholarships, the FastWeb scholarship search is the largest, most accurate and most frequently updated scholarship database. If students supply an email address, FastWeb will notify students when new awards that match the student’s profile are added to the database. Students can even submit an electronic application to some of the scholarships listed in the FastWeb scholarship database, saving time and money. FastWeb also includes a college search and numerous other student resources.
Scholarships.com: Allows students to create a personal profile and get immediate access to a full list of scholarship opportunities customized to their specific situation. This is an expansive scholarship database that is updated constantly, offering current, accurate, and relevant information.
