CLEP Testing

The CollegeBoard CLEP Exam

  • A satisfactory score on each CLEP exam earns a student from 3 to 12 college credits

    based solely on the discretion of the college of choice

  • Provides opportunity to graduate on time

  • Provides opportunity to demonstrate ability in college mathematics and foreign language entrance requirements, and

  • Provides opportunity to avoid repeating material having mastered in previous coursework of studies, independent or prior study, on-the-job training or cultural pursuits

  • Exams are administered at 1,600 colleges in the United States and abroad; 2,900 colleges and universities accept credit for successful scores

In-Preparation for the Exam:

• Proctor Fee: $20.00 beginning July 1, 2013
Must have a major credit card in order to pay the $77.00 fee directly to CLEP;
o The fee of $77.00 is for each exam taken; and,
• DANTES funds the CLEP eCBT exam fee up front; therefore, Military personnel pay only the proctor fee charged by Central Arizona College

O Call at least a week ahead of time to ensure availability of preferred testing date and
time.
• Read descriptions of all 33 exams carefully before making the appointment to ensure taking
necessary exam
• verify with the college of choice that the exam is accepted based upon the transfer
policies of the college of choice
o verification for transfer into Central Arizona College may be obtained from Transfer Specialist at Admissions and Registration located at the Student Service Center, Building M on the Central Arizona College campus.

O Individual Exam Guides: $10.00

At-Time of Examination:
• Must have government issued identification and a secondary identification;
• Receipt demonstrating having paid for proctor fee
• Allow for approximately three hours for a given exam depending upon the individual
• Within the exam, tutorials are available clarifying appropriate online responses
• Upon completion of exam, unofficial copies are provided to the examinee
• Official transcripts are sent to college within three weeks from CLEP
