Employment Readiness Program
| Central Arizona College offers short-term training programs geared to prepare people for entry-level employment positions in business and industry. The Employment Readiness Program is an interactive program taught in a small group, simulated workplace environment. | ![]() |
Employment Readiness is the core curriculum of the Skills Center with all other job training programs incorporating some or all elements of the program in their respective trainings/programs.
Employment Readiness, broken into two parts each lasting two weeks, is a 135 contact hour program which provides students with information and skill building in the ‘soft skills’ required in the workplace today. Soft skills are those skills not directly related to specific occupations/employment, are more personal in nature, but are necessary for successful employment.

Students in the program begin with individual assessments in applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information. The assessment is based upon skills directly related to employment. Scores are not prohibitive of entering into the program. Using KeyTrain® software, students are then provided computer based opportunities to improve skills to the required level for their chosen field of employment. At the end of Employment Readiness, students are given a post-assessment through WorkKeys™ to determine acquired levels of the above. A certificate of achievement, with job related skills, is awarded to students successfully completing the program.
