Coach Myers is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Agriculture Science. A bareback rider in college and a team roper today, Coach Myers began as a Rodeo Club Sponsor in 1978. The Rodeo Program became part of the Athletic Division in 1982 and Varr was hired as the head coach for the Men’s and Women’s Rodeo Teams. “I stay involved in college rodeo because it gives many young adults the incentive to attend college and earn a degreed and improve their lives.” A founding Board Member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Foundation (NIRF), Coach Myers served fourteen years on the national NIRA Board and was the National Faculty President, 1997.
He is an Arizona Native, growing up in Coolidge. Agriculture played a big part in his early life and is still an interest. His wife Linda and son Vance have been big supporters for the teams’ success over the years.
