Are you ready to start your college career while you are in high school? Want to get ahead of the educational game? Join the Early College Program and start your college experience today!

Welcome to the Early College Program at Central Arizona College. The program provides high school students an opportunity to get an early start into college by taking courses while still enrolled in high school. Students must be enrolled in four high school classes to participate in the Early College Program.

Who can participate in the Early College Program?

To be eligible for Early College, students must be:

  • A U.S. Citizen
  • A Pinal County resident who meets in-state residency guidelines
  • A current student who has completed their sophomore or junior year at a Pinal County High School
  • Students must receive authorization from their high school guidance counselor.

What are the costs associated with Early College?

Students accepted into the Early College program receive a tuition scholarship from Central Arizona College. The tuition scholarship covers regular in-state tuition and fees. Students are responsible for the purchase of textbooks, class materials, and are responsible for their own transportation to and from campus.

When are classes offered?

Central Arizona College offers classes throughout the fall and spring semesters.  Semester length classes are generally sixteen weeks. Late start classes are usually eight weeks long and may begin mid-semester. Click here to see the current semester schedule.

Are high school or college credits earned?

Students take college courses and earn college credit. All grades are recorded on the student’s permanent college transcript. Students must consult with their high school counselor to find out how college courses can be used towards high school credit.

What are the requirements to be in the Early College program?

Students must:

  • Meet all eligibility criteria
  • Maintain a college grade point average of 2.5
  • Enroll and complete the CPD101 class in the first semester Click here to review the current semester schedule. 
  • Meet each semester with an academic advisor
  • Attend all required Early College meetings
    (meetings will generally be held before the start of a new semester)

Early College students are members of the CAC student body and are expected to adhere to the college rules, regulations, and the Student Code of Conduct.
