Transfer Degrees

Students considering transfer to a Public University in Arizona (ASU, NAU or the UofA) must work closely with a Central Arizona College Academic Advisor and become familiar with the Arizona Course Applicability System (AzCAS) Website.  The AzCAS site allows students to create a personalized account, explore Universities and their programs, determine transferability of Community College courses, find common course guides for University majors and even develop a degree plan for their chosen University that is cross-reference with a specific Community College.  A great deal of valuable information related to transfer and advising is avialable on the AzCAS site.  To explore, go to www.az.transfer.org/cas

Central Arizona College offers three Transfer Degrees, the Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Business (A.B.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees.  Each degree allows a student to transfer to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or University of Arizona at junior standing fulfilling requirements for all university general education/liberal studies and university admissions.  Every Transfer Degree is embedded with a corresponding General Studies Block called an AGEC.  AGEC stands for Arizona General Education Curriculum.  For more information on AGEC, refer to the Central Arizona College Catalog or speak to a Central Academic Advisor.

An early decision in choosing a major will help the student in proper course selection. CAC transfer degrees require 60 to 64 credit hours. Most university degrees are limited to 120 credits. Students who follow an academic plan will have to take only 56 to 60 upper-division credits at the university to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Students should see a Central Academic Advisor for help in planning a program of study and for recommended common courses for their specific University major for the target transfer institution.
