Transfer Degrees
The Transfer Degrees are designed for direct transfer without loss of credit to one of Arizona's public universities (ASU, NAU, UofA). Students who complete a degree will be guaranteed to enter the university with junior standing. Students should see a CAC academic advisor to learn how to use the Arizona Course Applicability System (AzCAS) to find the appropriate Common Courses for their specific major.
A.A. - Associate of Arts
A.B. - Associate of Business
A.S. - Associate of Science
A.A.E.E. - Associate of Arts Elementary EducationStudents may also complete a Transfer Pathway in a particular field. While not a degree, a Transfer Pathway will complete an Arizona General Education Curriculum and provide students with Common Courses to transfer to a specific Arizona University for a specific University Major or Program of Study.
Associate of General Studies (A.G.S.)
The associate of general studies degree is an option for students wanting more flexibility in selecting courses and who do not plan to transfer. However, choosing the A.G.S. and fulfilling the AGEC (Arizona General Education Curriculum) requirements will maintain an open door for attending a state public university at a later time. A.G.S. students planning to transfer should consult the catalog of the institution to which they plan to transfer and follow a similar program at Central.
Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)
Most associate of applied science degree programs are designed to prepare students for employment in areas such as office occupations, nursing, and manufacturing electronics. Some state universities have responded to needs in particular technical fields with provisions for 2+2 programs so that students with an A.A.S. degree may transfer to a university without loss of credit. These programs often require lower-division general education courses in the junior and senior years. Consult your CAC advisor and the transfer guides for Arizona State University at the Polytechnic Campus, Arizona State University West, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University in the major field for the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree.
Certificates
Most certificates can be completed in one or two semesters, and are designed to prepare students for entry-level employment opportunities. Some certificates offer advanced training or are a step toward meeting A.A.S. or A.G.S. degree requirements.
A minimum of one-third of the certificate credits must be completed at Central. The cumulative grade point average must be at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0.
