2008 Online Learning Student Handbook

Online learning offers students more flexibility than traditional on-campus classes. You can access your course work and submit assignments on your time schedule - early in the morning or late at night.  Like any educational experience, there will be challenges as well as rewards.

Are you new to online learning?  - Before logging into Blackboard or your student e-mail you will need to check your browser settings.  Check out “Getting Started” for other helpful hints and suggestions to make your online experience more rewarding.

Are you a returning student with questions?  - You will find answers in the “Online Learning Student Guide”.

Are you looking for the CAC Student E-mail?  - The CAC student e-mail server is located at http://cactus.centralaz.edu.  E-mail tutorials can be found in “Online Learning Student Guide Student E-mail Information”.

Considering an online class but not sure what might be involved? - Both “Getting Started” and the “Online Learning Student Guide” will answer any questions you might have about how an online class works.  Central Arizona College offers three types of classes in the online environment to meet the needs of a variety of students.

  • Supplement – additional online materials for face to face classes
  • Hybrid – partially online classes which also meet in a face to face setting
  • Fully Online – classes entirely in the online environment.  Some fully online classes do require students to come to a campus in order to take proctored exams.
