AcES is the scholarship that focuses on extending Honors education opportunities to students with high academic achievement who are not participating in the Honors Program. Students are eligible even if they are part-time (minimum enrollment of six credits), and the GPA requirement is different from that of the Honors Program; participation in AcES requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

AcES students receive a scholarship in the amount of tuition and fees for one 3-credit course for each semester in which they are accepted into AcES.

In order to qualify for AcES, the students must:

  • Be currently enrolled in at least six credits at CAC.
  • Fill out the AcES Application form.
  • Submit the completed application form to the AcES Coordinator or appropriate office at their campus by the deadline for each semester.
  • Attend an organizational meeting in a distance learning classroom on their campus.
  • Participate in three AcES-approved events, with the AcES campus group if required.
  • write a response paper for each activity in which they participate and submit each to the AcES Coordinator for their campus within one week of the event.
  • Attend the final AcES meeting of the semester via distance learning.

In order to continue your AcES scholarship for a second semester:

Beginning Spring semester 2010, AcES students who wish to continue their AcES scholarship must take HNR 255 Leadership Development, a transfer course.  HNR 255 is required of AcES students in their second semester of receiving the AcES Scholarship Award.
