"A master can tell you what [he] expects of you. A teacher, though, awakens your own expectations." --Patricia Neal
That quote summarizes what I hope to do in my classes. I love teaching and certainly have techniques, ideas, and experiences that assist students in their development as writers, readers, and thinkers, but I also believe we learn from each other. Ultimately, I hope students leave my classes better knowing their strengths and having more curiosity for the world around them.
Besides teaching, I am passionate about traveling and have visited over half of the US and 30 countries; I also lived in Zimbabwe (Africa) for 2 years. In addition to traveling, I enjoy reading, writing, biking and hiking as well as vegetarian cooking. I love spending time with my partner and our daughter.
