FAQ Dietetic Technician AAS degree



  • When and where are classes held?
    Online and traditional on campus classes are offered on a semester basis (fall, spring, and summer). The majority of classes start at the beginning of the semester; the Dietetic Education and Culinary Arts also offers Late Start Classes.

    Fast Paced College classes are offered throughout the State of Arizona in a variety of ways (i.e., two-day, three-day, weekend sessions etc.). Classes are intensive and require students to come prepared. After students are registered, they receive a confirmation letter with class preparation instructions.

  • How do I register for classes?
    Click on Class Schedules/Registration.

  • For online courses are there specific times I need to login?
    You may access your online class any day/time. You must complete your coursework/assignments by the deadlines specified by your instructor.

  • How long does it take to complete a certificate?
    The time to complete is dependent upon your pace. Estimated time:

Dietary Manager Training Program: 3 semesters part-time
Diabetes Care and Education Certificate: 3 semesters part-time
Community Nutrition Worker Certificate: 3 semesters part-time

  • I do not live near your college campus. How do I complete the ServSafe course?
    Students that cannot come to the CAC campus to take the exam, may take CUL105 Food Safety Foundations (1 cr.). ServSafe courses are offered online/hybrid. Students meet via our web-based online environment (Blackboard) and the classes end with a national exam held on campus.  

  • How much does each certificate/degree  cost?

  • Can I enroll in all required courses for a certificate/degree at one time?
    Full-time students typically enroll in 12-17 credits. Part time students enroll in 6-9 credits. Enroll in the amount of credits that you think you can manage. Many courses have pre-requisites which must be taken into consideration before registering for classes.

  • Do you offer the Diabetes Care and Education Certificate for out-of-state students?
    Yes, classes are offered online.

  • What kind of job can I find as a Certified Dietary Manager?
    The field is constantly expanding, and dietary managers are in demand nationwide. We suggest that you visit the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP)website http://www.anfponline.org and http://www.cdmcareer.info

  • What is the salary range for a Certified Dietary Manager?

  • Which certificate or degree requires an Internship?
    The Dietary Manager Training Program requires NTR196 (3-credit Internship. The Dietetic Techncian AAS degree requires NTR296 (6 credit Internship).

  • I have a four-year degree, do I qualify to take the CDM/CFPP credentialing exam?
    There are four ways to qualify:
    - Completing a ANFP-approved dietary manager training program.
    - Two-year or four-year degree in foodservice management, nutrition, or culinary arts.
    - Combination of training and experience.
    - Related to military training.
