Central Arizona’s Teacher Education Division offers many opportunities for study, including coursework in Elementary Education, Special Education, Secondary Education and Early Childhood Education that can lead to both certificates and degrees.
The Teacher Education Programs at Central Arizona College prepare students to work with students of all ages in a variety of settings, including public, private and charter K-12 schools, preschools, and home-based childcare programs. Coursework in educational foundations, special education, and bilingual education is offered as well.
We have a new associates degree in education called the Associates of Arts in Elementary Education (AAEE) that transfers seamlessly to all three Arizona universities, and has been endorsed by the state as the best preparation in becoming either an elementary or special education teacher.
We are currently working with a state-wide group to develop a seamless associates degree for those interested in becoming middle or high school teachers. Course work for education degrees in secondary teaching areas is already available to students.
Please contact Dr. Marjorie Schiller (marjorie.schiller@centralaz.edu) for the latest updates on degrees and pathways in K-12 education.
Contact Barbara Mezzio (barbara.mezzio@centralaz.edu ) or Joanne Floth (joanne.floth@centralaz.edu) for information on our extensive early childhood and preschool programs.
