Autobiography of Professor Sun

I joined Northeastern University's faculty in 1987 as a teacher, after my graduation from Jilin University, China, where I specialized in British and American language and literature. Since my graduation, I have spent most of my time teaching and studying English, the language and the culture. From 1987 to 1995, I taught English to undergraduate students in NEU. In 1995, I went to Shanghai to study linguistics and applied linguistics in Fudan University and achieved master degree in 1998. Then I returned to NEU and began to teach English grammar, writing, and translation. Now I am teaching spoken English and English writing to postgraduate students.

I like travelling even though I have little time to do so. I usually take summer or winter vacation to travel around and see new places and meet people. In 2008, I went on a trip with my family to the northeastern area of the United States, which was an unforgettable experience to me. I love reading books, magazines, newspapers, and surfing the internet; news about domestic and international affairs are usually the topics I focus on. I like to chat with people and I feel it is really interesting to know other people's belief and idea, so I consider it as part of my research area.

In my spare time, I play badminton, do a little yoga and enjoy shopping and cooking, though I'm not a very good cook. Life is so beautiful, I really enjoy it.

 Autobiography of Zhang Fan

My name is Zhang Fan (Natasha) and I am a sophomore from Northeastern

University Foreign Studies College.  I have been fond of language study since I was a little girl and that is why I chose English as my major in the university.  In order to broaden my horizon and get to know more about other colorful cultures in the world, I also chose French as my second foreign language.  I am always excited to have a fresh look at a new culture.  When I graduate from Northeastern University in two years, I plan to continue my studies in Beijing since I am dreaming of working as an interpreter.

Like many other young ladies of my age, I like shopping and traveling to different cities with my friends.  In addition, I love singing as well as listening to music. Music is a good friend to me whenever I am excited or upset.  In addition, I prefer short essays to full-length novels,  so, I often buy some magazines similar to "Chicken Soup for the Soul" to read from time to time.  I have learned a lot from reading.

I come from Cangzhou, Hebei Province. It is a city located on the coastline of the Bohai Sea, called "the Pearl on the Bohai Sea".  Cangzhou is most famous for its acrobatics and Wushu.  Besides, one of the most delicious foods of my hometown is the winter jujube and I'd love to show my new friends around my hometown.

There are three people in my family.  My father is a civil servant and my mother is a teacher in a primary school. I love them so much because they are always standing by me.  My parents have taught me how to overcome difficulties in life and how to get along well with others.  I really appreciate their efforts and have benefited greatly from them.

I'm honored to have a chance to study at Central Arizona College in America next semester.  My motto is "the artificer of his own happiness" and I will treasure this valuable chance to study abroad.  I'm looking forward to meeting new teachers and making new friends in America, and I am also glad to invite you to come to China someday.

Autobiography of Jin Yanrui

My name is Jin Yanrui, and you can call me Vincent. I am an English-major Sophomore student in NEU. My hometown is located in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, in Southern China. It is a place well-known for its picturesque landscape and livability, because a host of lakes sparkle in the sunlight. It is named after Water Village.

My major hobbies are shopping and watching romantic comedies and TV series. I always adore shopping on line and TaoBao Website is my favorite site to shop. Sometimes I go on a shopping spree, which gives rise to a tight budget for the rest of the month. As for the TV series, I am fascinated by Friends, mostly for their adorable personalities and emotional friendships. I can kick back and relax as well as learn some useful words and cultures while watching movies and TV series.  In addition to these two hobbies, my interests include reading novels, eating out with my friends and movie dubbing. All of these contribute a lot to a full life.

My family is a core.  My family consists of my father, my mother, my grandmother and me. I fancy spending quality time with my beloved family. My father is a taxi driver and he is always exhausted after a full day of work. My mother is a teller who also needs to care for my grandmother every day. My grandmother passed away this year, which saddened me a lot.

Natasha and I are excited to come to the U.S. and look forward to seeing you soon. It's very kind of you to help us improve our English skills. Meanwhile, we can also talk in Chinese and help you learn it.  In the end, we are greatly honored that we can study at CAC. We look forward to seeing you soon.
