Arizona printmaker Kathryn Maxwell’s work coming to CAC’s Visual Arts Gallery

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. - As winter turns to spring in the desert, the Central Arizona College Visual Arts Gallery will host the work of another local artist, Kathryn Maxwell, who is known for her prints and mixed media works.
The public is invited to attend the exhibit's opening reception from 6-8 p.m., Tues., Jan. 28. Maxwell's artistic stylings will then be on display and open to the public until Mar. 6.
Maxwell's works have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the U.S. and abroad, including solo exhibitions at the Glasgow Print Studio in Glasgow, Scotland; Dundee Contemporary Arts in Dundee, Scotland; the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; and Northern Arizona University Museum in Flagstaff. She has participated in group exhibitions at the International Print Center in New York; the Melanee Cooper Gallery in Chicago; the Detroit Institute of Arts; the Tucson Museum of Art; the Indianapolis Art Center; the Marshall Arts Gallery in Scottsdale; and the American Cultural Center, New Delhi, India.
Her work is also featured in numerous public and corporate collections, including Alabama Power Company; the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium; the Denver Art Museum; the Harvard University Art Museum; the UCLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts; Michigan Bell; and the Phoenix Arts Commission.
Maxwell was born in Southern Illinois. She received an M.F.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison after earning a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University (Ill.) Maxwell is currently professor of printmaking at Arizona State University.

CAC's Visual Arts Gallery is located in the M Building (Clock Tower) on the college's Signal Peak Campus (8470 N Overfield Rd, Coolidge, AZ 85128). The gallery is open every Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., except for holidays.
