CAC offers Spanish immersion program in The Land of Eternal Spring May 29 – June 25
CUERNAVACA, Mexico - Imagine working professionals from Arizona studying Spanish in open air classrooms right in the tropical paradise of Central Mexico?
It sounds like a dream, but Central Arizona College makes this fantastic opportunity possible each summer through its Spanish immersion program in the beautiful mountains of Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Designed to vastly improve the participant's comprehension and speech, a pair of 14-day programs will depart from Phoenix to Cuernavaca, Mexico, beginning May 29 with the second session ending June 25. Students will live with a Mexican family so that they may improve their language skills through interaction in the home.
Each trip is worth three credits, with the entire two- or four-week adventure worth three-or six-credit hours. The first trip runs May 29 - June 11, while the second trip will take place June 12-25. Many students take full advantage of staying for the entire month.
"This program is ideal for teachers, school administrators, medical professionals - anyone who works with high Spanish speaking populations in Arizona," John Prevost, the professor who supervises the program at Central Arizona College, explained. "It is a terrific opportunity for people to improve their education, increase their marketability and earn continuing education credits."
At no additional cost, the program offers exotic trips to Mexico City, Taxco, Tepotzlan, archeological ruins, and a variety of fascinating places.
Known for its temperate climate, The Land of Eternal Spring boasts impressive archaeological ruins and spectacular mountain scenery. Cuernavaca is just 90 minutes from Mexico City. This also is a fantastic excuse to escape the summer heat.
Students will receive five hours of intense daily instruction by highly qualified native language instructors who utilize a cultural backdrop in an immersion format to teach Spanish. This is proven to be the best way to learn a foreign language.
The price for the program is approximately $1,395 and includes roundtrip airfare from Phoenix to Mexico City, transfers, family home stay, 40 hours of Spanish instruction, cultural classes and short excursions, two full-day excursions with guides, three credit hours, and assistance of an onsite Central Arizona College coordinator throughout the course. (Airfare is subject to change.)
