APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - If you've ever dreamed of becoming the next Da Vinci or Rembrandt but never knew the first thing about oil painting, Central Arizona College's Lifelong Learners program has a pair of classes that may interest you.
Getting Started in Oil Painting and Oil Painting Techniques, both taught by Karen McLain, will be held on Sat., June 11 and July 2, respectively. Both classes will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and cost $40 for C.A.L.L. members to attend. Non-members are also welcomed at a price of $55.
Getting Started in Oil Painting is designed for the complete beginner. If you have always wanted to try your hand at painting, if you have been drawn to art for years but weren't sure you could do it, or if you feel that there are things you want to express through art, then this workshop is for you.
Within a friendly and supportive environment, this workshop will bring out the artist in you. The class will cover the basics of painting materials, techniques and fundamentals, while addressing the emotional blocks that keep us from creating. Students should request a materials list when registering.
Oil Painting Techniques can save you years of floundering. These techniques and principles will give you a boost to get you to the next level in your painting skills.
Students should come prepared for a concentrated experience with information, demonstrations and exercises. Participants will grow in artistic ability and insight while also learning the basic understanding of each concept.
