PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. - Central Arizona College, which currently hosts Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Felipe Ramos of Brazil, will welcome visiting professor Zhao Yujie from China during the 2011 fall semester.

Yujie will teach three courses each designed to expose the Pinal County community to Chinese culture and language.

Yujie's stint as a visiting professor is part of an ongoing effort of the college's International Studies program. In China, she is a professor of linguistics within the Foreign Studies College at Northeastern University in Shenyang, China.

Yujie will arrive at CAC in early August and will spend the fall semester at the Signal Peak Campus teaching a trio of courses, one that also will be offered via interactive television (iTV) to the Superstition Mountain and Aravaipa campuses, and to the San Tan Center.

"We are proud to welcome Ms. Yujie to Central Arizona College," John Paddison, CAC's director of international studies, said. "My hope is that the community will take advantage of this unique learning opportunity."

Yujie will teach CHI 101, Elementary Chinese (CRN: 11965), Monday through Thursday from Noon-1:05 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus. This class is a five-credit course that can be transferred to Arizona's state universities.

Additionally, she will be teaching Introduction to Chinese Cooking (CRN: 11024) on Thursdays from Sept. 29 through Oct. 20 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. also at Signal Peak. This is a one-credit course.

Finally, Yujie will teach, via iTV, HMS198B1, Introduction to Chinese Culture (CRN: 11981, 11983, 12027, and 12028), on Monday and Wednesday from 1:30-2:45 p.m. at the San Tan Center, as well as at the Superstition Mountain, Aravaipa and Signal Peak campuses.
