APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Respected audiologist Dr. Gabrielle Sadowsky will serve as instructor during All About Hearing, a class offered through Central Arizona College's Lifelong Learners program.

The three-day class will be held at CAC's Superstition Mountain Campus on three consecutive Thursdays starting Feb. 17 through Mar. 3 from 1-3 p.m. There is no charge for C.A.L.L. members and a $20 tuition fee for non-members.

This class will introduce its attendees to the study of the auditory system, causes of hearing loss, and ways of coping with hearing loss. Students also will learn about hearing healthcare professionals, and what they can and cannot do.

The class will explore why people avoid getting help for their hearing and what family members can do about it. Participants will learn what causes tinnitus - or the ringing in the ear - and treatments that work.

Participants also will learn about what comprises a hearing-aid candidate, what an audiogram reveals, what kind of hearing aids are available, and what type of results you can expect from them.
Dr. Sadowsky is a certified audiologist by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a membership as a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

She has more than 17 years of experience providing diagnostic audiological evaluations while helping people enjoy life through better hearing. Sadowsky is the owner of Desert Sounds Audiology & Hearing Aid Services.

Sadowsky earned her doctorate in audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences after completing her undergraduate and graduate studies in speech & hearing science at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
