APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - ‘Tis the season for giving and receiving. ‘Tis also the season for high levels of stress and increased blood pressure - even though it shouldn't be.
Central Arizona College's Brown Bag Lunch Series continues on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at noon with ‘Tis the Season to...Be: A Holiday Sur-Thrival Guide at the Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction.
The free event is open to the community and designed to ensure participants enjoy the holiday spirit.
Tonya Recla, the self-proclaimed founder of the Sur-Thrival Movement, will provide practical, inspirational and vital intelligence for thriving in today's world.
"The irony," Recla said, "is that during a season of rest, hibernation, and symbolic death as the world prepares for and enters winter, we've created the hustle and bustle of decking halls and cultural commitments."
Although the holidays can be stressful, Recla believes they don't have to be. By following her tips, attendees can "flip the holidays positive," and embrace time spent with friends and family.
Although her Holiday Sur-Thrival Guide is a refocused version of the everyday mentality she has created, Recla believes it to contain the same principles that help people get through a Monday in April as well as a holiday in December.
"Most fall and winter holidays share elements of gratitude, reflection, and love," she explained. "The Sur-Thrival mentality is just as applicable during the holidays as it is throughout the rest of the year."
