CAC’s College for Kids exploring the Aravaipa Canyon July 6-16
June 5, 2009
EASTERN PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – The journey into the Aravaipa Canyon for young explorers in Eastern Pinal County begins July 6 at Central Arizona College.
The annual College for Kids program at CAC’s Aravaipa Campus will take students entering grades three through seven this fall on a two-week jaunt through one of the most pristine and wondrous regions of Arizona.
The canyon literally sits out the back door of the campus.
Entitled Aravaipa Adventures, this year’s College for Kids program will run Monday through Thursday, July 6-16, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The fee is $210 per student.
The registration deadline for the College for Kids program is Friday, June 19, but parents are encouraged to enroll their children early due to the 40-student limit in place for this year’s program.
Transportation to and from designated bus stops in several of the major towns along the Copper Corridor will help children begin their journey.
The hands-on program will be headed up by Drew and Debbie Mansager, fifth grade teachers at Mammoth Elementary School who are well-known in the area. Students will learn about the environment and the ecosystem on their daily sojourns through the canyon.
The College for Kids program also is looking for businesses or individuals to sponsor students in this educational summer camp.
