C.A.L.L. computer classes fostering connectivity with the community
September 9, 2008
APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – Central Arizona College’s Lifelong Learners (C.A.L.L.) program wants you to check out its array of computer technology classes being offered this fall at the institution’s Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction.
Classes cover everything from Computer Basics to PowerPoint, and if all you want is an opportunity to speak with a computer consultant, C.A.L.L. is offering that, too.
Most of the classes will be taught by Jean Oiler, one of Central Arizona College’s adjunct professors and a popular C.A.L.L. instructor.
“When I first began teaching,” Oiler said, “the students were mostly there for fun. Now my classes include people who have been downsized out of their jobs or who need to expand their skills for paid employment or volunteer work.”
Age is irrelevant when it comes to computer technology, according to Oiler.
“I have a friend in her 90s who uses a computer all the time. We can learn anything we want to at any age.”
In addition to Oiler, Steve Ventre and Joel Beck will both computer classes for C.A.L.L. during the fall semester.
Ventre, a retired judge, is a valued volunteer instructor for C.A.L.L. with a flair for teaching technology.
Beck, the program assistant for C.A.L.L., has a great deal of experience with computers and working with the members of the organization.
