September 29, 2008
SEDONA, Ariz. – The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations professionals has selected Central Arizona College’s redesigned website as the gold standard among two-year schools from the Southwest to the Polynesian Islands for 2008.
The honor was announced on Friday, Sept. 26, during the organization’s regional workshop in Sedona, Ariz.
Central Arizona College received the 2008 District 6 Gold Medallion of Excellence Award honoring the overall look of the institution’s website.
Dan Bush, CAC’s director of marketing, helped spearhead the project after joining the staff in the fall of 2006.
“There were many, many people involved in this redesign project and the credit goes out to everyone who put in the time and effort to create a new look for the college,” Bush stated. “The kudos for this award must go out to everyone who served on the Web Advisory Group (WAG), and especially to Ed Harter, Joanne Mikkelsen and Julia Cockrill who work diligently behind the scenes.”
The Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community, junior and technical colleges around the nation at the district level.
There are seven districts located throughout North America and the Polynesian Islands, with District 6 including all two-year schools in Arizona, California, Hawai‘i, Nevada, Utah, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Territory of Guam.
Medallion winners can enter the Paragon Awards, NCMPR's prestigious honors that are the only national competition of its kind exclusively honoring excellence among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.
Winners are announced each year at the NCMPR national conference with their work showcased at the American Association of Community Colleges national conferences and in an awards brochure distributed to community college presidents nationwide.
NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community, technical and junior colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,500 members from more than 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries.
The organization’s primary focus is to provide professional growth opportunities and support services in the areas of marketing, public and media relations, community and alumni relations, publications, sports marketing, legislative and governmental relations, and special-events coordination – to name just a few.
With its national headquarters located in Greeley, Colo., NCMPR is governed by a 16-member board of directors comprised of community college marketing professionals.
