Central Arizona College professor helps would-be keyboardists dust off home pianos with private lessons

COOLIDGE, Ariz - Professor of Music Arlene Ratz is helping piano owners dust off their keyboards with classes and private lessons through Central Arizona College.

Beginning August 19, she will offer her Beginners Class every Tuesday from 1:30-3:20 p.m. on Central’s Signal Peak Campus.

Starting August 21, Ratz’s Piano Class also will be held at the Signal Peak Campus from 1:30-3:20 p.m. every Thursday.

The pair of two-credit classes will run throughout the fall semester.

“It’s important for students to understand that to learn to play the piano or keyboard you need to have access to a piano or a keyboard,” Ratz stressed. “You need a piano or keyboard for daily practice.”

Ratz also teaches private lessons through Central Arizona College. The lessons are taught in 50-minute weekly sessions throughout the semester and actually provide students with a Central Arizona College credit. The one-credit course for the semester runs $60 with $125 private lesson fee for a $185 total.

Those who want to register but are unsure of their proficiency level should call 520-494-5395 or 520-723-5384. Students also may call Ratz directly to arrange for the weekly private lessons.

For more registration information, please contact Central Arizona College at the Signal Peak Campus by calling 520-494-5444 or 800-237-9814.
