APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Are you confused about certain applications on your computer? Is there something you would like to do on your computer but don’t know how? Do you need to expand your knowledge of computers? Central Arizona College’s C.A.L.L. program has just the class for you.
Designed for either the computer novice or those with experience, this new opportunity from Central Arizona Lifelong Learners is sure to help you further develop your computer skills. Private tutors are available on Tuesdays from 10-11:30 a.m. between June 3-Aug. 5 to help with various computer programs or functions that you may use.
Simply select the areas of study for your session and meet one on one with either Joel Beck from Central Arizona College or Steve Ventre, a retired judge who teaches computer classes for the public library and CAC. Both are experts in their field and are willing to help sort out problems or learn new procedures.
Call Joel Beck at 480-677-7721 or drop by the C.A.L.L. office at Central Arizona College at 273 East Old West Highway in Apache Junction and sign up for a private lesson with an experienced computer instructor. This private session is free to C.A.L.L. members and costs $30 for non-members.
C.A.L.L. also is offering several computer classes throughout the summer. For people who are still on older versions of Word, step up and prepare to enter the new world of Word 2007, which will soon be the only word processing program on new PCs.
There are many differences between the new version and older programs. Here is an opportunity to learn those differences and get a jump on the transition to the 2007 version. There is a limit of 15 in this class, held on Tuesday, June 24 from 9:30 a.m.-noon. The class is $15 for C.A.L.L. members and $25 for non-members.
Beck will be teaching a class on July 28 entitled “Post, Protect and Pursue: Introduction to E-mail, Viruses and Web Searching.” From 1-3:30 p.m., you will learn how to use e-mail, types of e-mail services, formats, and attachments - including photo insertions. You will learn what computer viruses are, how to catch one, how to avoid them and what to do if you get one.
Beck is a whiz on Internet investigations and will teach you about search engines, tips on narrowing searches and some interesting web sites to check out. The world of information is at your fingertips and Beck’s tips will help you find what you need. The class is $10 for C.A.L.L. members and $20 for non-members.
The tutoring sessions and computer classes will be held at Central Arizona College’s Superstition Mountain Campus at 273 East Old West Highway, Apache Junction.
