Helping Veterans Series begins spring tour in San Manuel May 5

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. - Central Arizona College’s Helping Veterans series designed to support military personnel and their families will its spring tour on May 5 with an initial stop in San Manuel.

The seminars are designed to aid those who have served navigate the labyrinths of government paperwork and red tape they may encounter. The tour also will make stops in Florence, Apache Junction, Casa Grande and Oracle through mid-July.

Cheryl Chase, the former Arizona state legislator and current Central Arizona College staff member, has orchestrated the series by partnering with the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services.

The free event is for all veterans – not just those returning from Afghanistan or Iraq – and does not require preregistration.

“While we are trying to help the vets from Pinal County, any veteran from any military era who lives outside the county is more than welcome to attend,” Chase said, citing the proximity of some series stops along the county border. “This is for our service personnel who have dedicated their lives in preserving our freedom. It is a small way that we can help make their transition and their lives easier.”

There will be a presentation and an opportunity to learn more about services in regards to veteran entitlement and the Montgomery G.I. Bill.
