Vacation

Policy 535 – Employee Benefits All College Administrative, Support, and Classified personnel on a fiscal (12 month) contract shall be entitled to twenty (20) working days annual vacation allowance per fiscal year. That vacation time shall be accrued at the rate of five (5) working days per quarter. Employees on a ten (10) or (11) month contract will accumulate vacation on a pro-rated basis. Employees may carry forward two years of accrual from one fiscal year to the next, except for the employees who are funded out of grant funds.

Holidays

The College recognizes eight (8) paid holidays which include:

  • January - New Year's Day
  • January - Martin Luther King Day
  • May - Memorial Day
  • July - Independence Day
  • September - Labor Day
  • November - Veteran's Day
  • November - Thanksgiving Day & the Friday after
  • December - Christmas Day

Sick Leave

All full-time employees shall accumulate leave at the rate of one day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days. Sick leave may be used for an employee or an immediate family member. 

Effective July 1, 1989 all employees will be paid 50% of leave accumulated after the stated effective dates when an employee with (5) five years of continuous full-time service leaves College employment, except when terminated for cause.

Personal Business

A full-time employee may be granted two (2) days of non-cumulative personal leave per fiscal year, for personal business. Supervisor’s approval will be obtained at least one day in advance, except in case of emergency. Such leave does not require an explanation unless both days are requested consecutively, or immediately prior to or following a weekend. Personal leave cannot be used to extend an employee’s vacation or a College holiday.

Breaks

Employees who are currently on contract and whose services are not determined essential for operation during school closing receive the days between Christmas and New Years Day and the week of Spring Break off as paid leave.

Bereavement

Employees who are currently on contract may receive four (4) days of leave with pay in case of the death of an immediate family member. This includes spouse, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. An employee may petition the College President for approval to use bereavement leave for other long-term relationships. An additional three (3) days may be used from sick leave if necessary.
