Disability and Worker's Compensation

Long Term Disability

Our long term disability policy is administered through the Arizona State Retirement System.  Should you become permanently disabled, an application to ASRS will be submitted after you have not worked for two months.  There is a six-month waiting period from the initial date of disability for payment of benefits by ASRS and benefits are paid at 66 2/3% of your base salary.

Short Term Disability

The College policy regarding short term disability states that after applying for and being approved for long term disability benefits through the State, the College, after a three-month waiting period, will retroactively pay three months of your salary at 66 2/3%, coordinated with worker’s comp, if applicable.

Worker's Compensation

Any time you are injured during scheduled work hours or even if it is during a scheduled College function which is not during normal work hours or it is off campus, you must complete an Accident Injury Report Form.  You must also inform the physician that you were injured on the job so that SCF of  Arizona will cover the injury.  Your regular medical insurance will not cover on-the-job injuries.
