A 1970 graduate of CAC, Rick Gibson returned to serve his alma mater in 1997 as representative to the PCCCD Governing Board. He has also served as president of the CAC Alumni Association. Since 1981, Gibson has served as extension agent for agriculture in Pinal County for the University of Arizona and in 1997 became the county extension director. Gibson was elected as the president of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents for 2008-09. He has served as a member of the Sun Life Family Health Center Advisory Board and the Arizona Agriculture Extension Association. In 2009, Gibson was inducted into the Wall of Success for his outstanding professional achievement and commitment to CAC. Gibson earned his degree in biology from the University of Arizona in 1972 and his master’s degree in plant protection in 1978.


Rita Nader

Rita Nader was elected to the PCCCD Governing Board in 1993. Before retiring, Nader taught art, language arts, special education and served as a reading specialist at the Junior High School level. She worked closely with the Arizona Board of Education. She served as the chair of the Arizona Adult Literacy Committee, Arizona State Board for Vocational and Technological Education, and the Advisory Committee to the State Board for Vocational and Technological Education. Nader has represented CAC on the State Board of Directors of Community Colleges of Arizona the Arizona Community College Association and the Arizona State Board Legislative Committee. Nader received her undergraduate degree in speech, drama and art from Southeast Missouri State and earned her master’s degree in special education from Arizona State University.

 

Gladys Christensen

Gladys Christensen was elected to the PCCCD Governing Board in 1983. She spent most of her professional working career as an employment and training program manager before retiring. She has an extensive background in formulating policies and procedures. She served as Planning and Zoning Commissioner for Coolidge for eight years. Christensen also has been part of service organizations during her career such as Rebekah Lodge, Desert Women’s Club, Single Parent Advisory Group, Mensa International, American Legion Auxiliary, Gila Pinal PIC, Lioness Club, University Dames, Agri-Business Women, CAN-DO, State Advisory Council for Elementary and High School Curriculum, International Association for Personnel in Employment Service, and the Pinal County Personnel Club. Christensen earned her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Tempe and completed her master’s degree at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

 

Gloria Guzman

A resident of Winkelman, Arizona, Gloria Ann Guzman has served the PCCCD Governing Board since 1985. She most recently served as the president of the Governing Board from January of 2007 until January of 2009. She earned her undergraduate degree at Arizona State University in Tempe. In 1962 she returned to Eastern Pinal County to begin teaching. Guzman has been active in her community, serving as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a women’s educator association that performed community service projects such as collecting books for underprivileged children. She also served on the CAC Copper Corridor Committee. In 2007, Guzman was elected as the Association of Community College Trustees Pacific Region Chair, one of 10 positions on the organization’s executive committee. During her term, Guzman represented the largest geographic region within the organization.

 

Linda Yarrington

A resident of Apache Junction, Linda Yarrington joined the Pinal County Community College District Governing Board in January of 2009. She has lived in Pinal County for more than 16 years and has extensive experience guiding institutional operations for profit and non-profit organizations. Yarrington is the retired director of community relations, planning and workforce development from Pinal Gila Behavioral Health. She has served as a board member of the United Way of Pinal County and Eastern Arizona Health Education Center. Yarrington has volunteered her services to the Arizona Rural Health Association and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. Yarrington earned her associate degree in business from Mohave Community College before heading to Arizona State University where she completed her bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She earned her master’s degree in social work also from Arizona State University.
