Welcome From the Chief

Welcome to the Central Arizona College Police Department (CACPD) web site.  The College employs full time, professional, police officers, certified by the Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training board (AZPOST).  They are responsible for enforcing Arizona State Statues, college rules and regulations, investigating incidents, arresting perpetrators of criminal activity and maintaining order on college property.

Our web site is designated to inform you of current information regarding services provided by the CACPD, statistical information on crime trends, how to find us, and other helpful information.

We are committed to community oriented policing that involves working closely with our students, staff, and visitors.  It takes the commitment of our police force and the involvement of the college community to create a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  The CACPD is committed to involving the community in solving crime problems through community policing practices and keeping the community educated as to safe practices to protect yourself and your property.

We have included information on how to let us know when one of our staff deserves recognition or a commendation for excellent service.  We have also included information on how to file a complaint if you feel we have failed in this endeavor.  You can always e-mail me at james.matheney@centralaz.edu if an email reply is required.

As Chief, I am anxious to continue building collaborative relationships that will prepare the community for the challenges and rewards associated with the department's commitment to excellence.  On behalf of the men and women of the Central Arizona College Police Department, I hope the information you find on this web site is useful and informative.
