|CAC's 40th Anniversary Celebration|
40th birthday of CAC’s Signal Peak Campus
PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – Central Arizona College invited the community to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Signal Peak Campus on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.
The fun, family-oriented event included a college-wide open house from 2-6 p.m. featuring demonstrations from areas such as communications, culinary arts, massage therapy, nursing, science, technology, mathematics, art, the Honors Program and The Learning Center.
Children of all ages enjoyed the inflatable obstacle courses, face painting activities and heavy equipment vehicles all on The Green.
Katy Wilkins inflated the STARLAB - an indoor planetarium – while Wayne Pryor opened the astronomy lab during the day and offered an Astronomy Night at the Peak program after sunset.
Music and entertainment was provided throughout the day as the CAC Jazz Choir, CAC Jazz Band, CAC Bell Choir and a student guitar recital took place at various venues around the campus.
CAC’s men’s basketball team took the court at 3 p.m. to battle Howard (TX) College in a non-conference contest.
The theatrical production Home on the Mornin’ Train was reprised for one show only inside the Don P. Pence Center for Visual & Performing Arts and the SRP Band took the stage on The Green for an evening of cool music.
The 40th birthday party came to a climax when a brilliant fireworks display was over the Signal Peak campus making a beautiful end to a wonderful day.
